The similarities in organizational interest of NiNAS, MLSCN and USP on strengthening the practice of Medical Laboratories and quality of results from the laboratories brought together the leadership of these three organizations to discuss strategic partnership and collaboration. This meeting took place on April 3rd, 2019 at the Headquarters of NiNAS at No. 15 Kwame Nkrumah Crescent, Asokoro, Abuja, Nigeria.

The meeting was attended by representatives of United States Pharmacopeia (USP), medical Laboratory Scientist Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) and the Nigeria National Accreditation Service (NiNAS).  Representing USP are Dr. Chimezie Anyakora, The Chief of Party and Country Director and Mr. Adebola Adekoya who is the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Specialist.  MLSCN was represented by the Acting Registrar/ CEO of MLSCN, Mr Tosan Erhabor and The Director of Education, MLSCN.

The Chairman, Board of Directorsof NiNAS, Sir (Prince) Degun Agboade and The DG/CEO of NiNAS, Celestine Okanya represented NiNAS at the meeting. The meeting was observed by the World Bank Quality Infrastructure Expert, Mr. Stephen Cross.

The core objective of the meeting was to deliberate on a tripartite working relationship that shall result in advancement of quality of service of medical laboratories through capacity building and other health sector strengthening strategies.

It is expected that through this strategic partnership, more medical laboratories will achieve international accreditation and receive capacity building support.
